The Red Wings did it. They eliminated the Poultry from Anaheim. It did take one game longer than I expected but they got it done. In the end it was a gritty goal from Dan Cleary in front of Hiller at 17:00 min of the third period of game 7  that was the difference. Credit to the Poultry defensemen for holding the high flying Red Wing forwards from skating the way we were all used to seeing. Niedermayer and Pronger played above and beyond plus Hiller was not shaken even in game 7.

Next up for the Red Wings are the Chicago Blackhawks starting at 3p et on Sunday. The Blackhawks are an old division rival as well as a fellow Original Six NHL team. The Blackhawks are also a good, young, fast skating team but they are a little suspect back on the blue line. Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook are good but not in the class of Scott Niedermayer and Chris Pronger. I look for a more high scoring series which I predict the Red Wings because of their depth and experience will win in six games. I also look for Pavel Datsyuk to break out of his funk. He has only one goal thru the first 11 games of the playoffs so far.

More to come.
