The Red Wings did it. They eliminated the Poultry from Anaheim. It did take one game longer than I expected but they got it done. In the end it was a gritty goal from Dan Cleary in front of Hiller at 17:00 min of the third period of game 7  that was the difference. Credit to the Poultry defensemen for holding the high flying Red Wing forwards from skating the way we were all used to seeing. Niedermayer and Pronger played above and beyond plus Hiller was not shaken even in game 7.

Next up for the Red Wings are the Chicago Blackhawks starting at 3p et on Sunday. The Blackhawks are an old division rival as well as a fellow Original Six NHL team. The Blackhawks are also a good, young, fast skating team but they are a little suspect back on the blue line. Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook are good but not in the class of Scott Niedermayer and Chris Pronger. I look for a more high scoring series which I predict the Red Wings because of their depth and experience will win in six games. I also look for Pavel Datsyuk to break out of his funk. He has only one goal thru the first 11 games of the playoffs so far.

More to come.

The Dodgers lost last night in San Francisco 9-4. That means the hated Giants took two out of three from the Dodgers. Eric Stults(2-1) struggled, yielding five runs and seven hits while failing to get out of the third inning for the Dodgers meanwhile Tim Lincecum(2-1) allowed six hits and struck out eight while pitching into the eighth inning for the Giants. Joe Torre made a change in the Dodger lineup that hadn't happened in 44yrs. He batted Juan Pierre in the 9th spot and put Eric Stults in the 8th spot. It didn't work but nice try. The Dodgers are back at home tonight to take on the Padres.

The second round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs takes place tonight in Vancouver. The Blackhawks will take on the Canucks, and it should be a good series but I think Luongo can only take a team so far. Vancouver needs to score more and often than in the last series if they want to move on. I don't think it will happen. The Blackhawks have a good fast and younger team and it will show in six games.

Message to Duck fan, especially the one in the studio right next to me who doesn't stop talking trash, you don't realize what you are getting into. The Red Wings are a true deep team, unlike the overrated Sharks, they will fire the puck on net from every angle and park Johan Franzen and Tomas Holmstrom in front of Jonas Hiller thereby causing an eclipse of the sun. He won't be able to see the 40 shots per game and as a result won't be able to stop them. There is also 7 Swedes on the Red Wing team and they will not let a rookie Swede goalie get the best of them. No doubt that Jonas Hiller is a rising star in the NHL but just like Steve Mason for Columbus last round Hiller will cool off. I predict the Red Wings in 6 games.

More to come.

The last day of April today. I work at Salem LA from 10a-6p today. The commute only took 16min, not like last week when it took 35min.

Barack Obama had a press conference for his first 100 days last night. I caught bits and pieces but I will say that he is one of the most ingenious and insincere Presidents we have ever had. He wants to "transform America". What does that mean?? I know what exactly what that means. He wants to build a bigger a government, take away our freedoms, shrink the military(putting our country more at risk to attack), and apologize to the world for all America's wrongdoings. Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin would approve.  We as Proud Americans need to take the country back from this nightmare, starting in the next election of 2010.

Obama announces that Chrysler has filed bankruptcy as it seeks "a new lease on life". I guess chapter 11 means that you get an alliance with Fiat and $8 billion more in government loans, how can I get in on this deal? Seriously, I blame Americans who buy Toyota's, Nissan's, Mitsubishi's(who built Japanese aircraft in World War II) and Subaru's for this bankruptcy. I drive Fords and that is all that I will ever drive. I am a proud American!

Egypt ordered the slaughter of over 300,000 pigs in their country in an effort to combat the Swine Flu Virus. Even though there hasn't been a single case in that country and there is still no evidence that pigs spread the disease, this is pretty drastic. Whats next? No one is talking about shutting the borders in this country, Cuba has already halted travel to and from Mexico, I think we really need to do the same.
More to come.

The Dodgers won last night in San Francisco beating the Giants 5-3. Andre Eithier doubled in Manny Ramirez in the top of the 9th, and although Jonathan Broxton blew the save in the bottom of the 8th he did get the win when the Dodgers scored two runs in the top of the 9th. James Loney drove in two runs and Matt Kemp drove in another. The Dodger youngsters are maturing at a nice rate and this team is a force in the NL West. It also helps when Ramirez has a 3-3 night with three doubles. They will play the Giants again in the finale tonight in San Francisco.

The Caps defeated the Rangers in game 7 of the NHL Eastern Conference Quarters 2-1. Sergei Fedorov showed that he is still a great player by blasting a wristshot by Henrik Lundqvist with 4:59 left in the third and it turned out to be the game winner. Who says he can't play anymore. Caps rookie goalie Simeon Varlamov stopped 14 Ranger shots and now they head into the next round against the Pens. That will be a classic series, pitting Ovechkin against Crosby.

The Canes shocked the Devils by scoring two late goals in the third and won the game 4-3 thereby eliminating New Jersey. Jussi Jokinen scored at 18:40 of the third and then Eric Staal scored at 19:28 of the third as the Canes now will take on the top seeded Bruins.

The elite 8 is now set in the NHL. Chicago travels to Vancouver on Thursday 4/30, Anaheim is in Detroit and Carolina will visit Boston on Friday 5/1 and Pittsburgh will be in D.C to take on the Caps on Saturday 5/2.
More to come.

Up early this morning. The alarm went off at 4:25am and I really didn't want to get up but time doesn't wait on me. Showered and headed to work in my Mustang GT. It is only a fifteen minute commute but the idiots are out already cutting me off. Sometimes I feel like running them down with my 300hp but reality gets the best of me. There was a time when I had my 96 Ford Thunderbird in the mid to late 90's that no one would cut me off on the freeway and if they did they would get cut off back by an angry Ford driver. I digress.
The Swine Flu has taken its first victim here in the U.S. The CDC announced today that a 23-month-old toddler from Texas has lost her battle with the illness.
"Even though we've been expecting this, it is very, very sad," Dr. Richard Besser, acting chief of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said Wednesday of the infant's death. "As a pediatrician and a parent, my heart goes out to the family."
The bottom line is that we need to shut the border between the U.S. and Mexico for the time being otherwise this illness will spread like wildfire. We need to control this illness now before it becomes a plague or an epidemic. The Obama administration's answer is to spend millions at the problem. Maybe now we shouldn't have bailed out GM and Chrysler!!
Please make sure to wash your hands thoroughly and monitor your health closely.
Sen. Arlen Specter is a hypocrite and a traitor! I hope the Republicans beat him in the Senate race next year in Pennsylvania.
It looks like Prison Break is ending. It has been moved to Friday nights on Fox and only has two episodes left.

The Ducks actually did it. They eliminated the Sharks 4 games to 2 in the first round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. Now the Ducks will travel to Detroit to take on the powerful Red Wings for the first two games. Jonas Hiller stold the series for the Ducks but he now must take on names like Johan Franzen and Tomas Holmstrom, who are Sweedish as well, in front of the net. It will be a different series than the Sharks series because San Jose doesn't rely on bodies in front of the net screening the goalie. I predict the Red Wings take the series 4 games to 1.

The Lakers had trouble closing out the Utah Jazz, up by 22pts in the second half and letting it dwindle to 6 before putting them away 107-96. They will have to play tougher defense in the next round especially in the 2nd half of those games. I predict that the Lakers will take on the Houston Rockets in the next round and the Lakers will win the series 4 games to 2.

The Dodgers let one slip away. Down three runs to the Giants in cold & windy San Francisco for most of the night, they scored 4 runs  in the top of the 7th to take a 4-3 lead but couldn't hold it. Dodger reliever Ronald Belisario gave up 2 runs to the Giants in the bottom of the 8th and won the game 5-4. Giants reliever Brian Wilson struck out the side in the top of the 9th and picked up his 4th save of the year.  The Dodgers will take on the Giants again in cold & windy San Francisco tonight. Go Dodgers!!

More sports to come.

I am working at Salem LA and then later at CRN. My Ford Explorer wouldn't start this morning so I had to take my Mustang GT to work. I know,  what a problem.
The Swine Flu troubles me and the fact that the Spanish Channels here in Los Angeles are not even covering it. I know that because my Mom watches her Novelas everyday and she reports not hearing any coverage. Wow! Now the US Gov't is advising us not to travel to Mexico. Hugh Jackman has now cancelled a trip to Mexico as well as other American Celebrities. Sounds like good advice. Bottom line,  wash your hands constantly and monitor your health closely.
Sen Arlen Specter is now switching parties from Republican to Democrat. What is he doing!!! He thinks it will help his re-elcetion hopes but it will pull the Dems within one seat of a 60 seat fillibuster-resistant majority. Socialism doesn't work!! Spreading the wealth doesn't work!! We need to understand this.
The Gov't shouldn't have to bail out Chrysler or GM, they were the ones who drove their companies into the ground so let them file bankruptcy! Ford is doing ok and they haven't received one cent of bailout money. Is it because they build a better automobile and know how to run their company??
The President apologized for the Air Force One flyover and photoshoot in Lower Manhattan. What is this Administration thinking!!! It caused uproar from the NYC Mayor Bloomberg and evacuations of many buildings in that area. The Democrats just don't get it!!
More to come in the following days.
