The Dodgers won last night in San Francisco beating the Giants 5-3. Andre Eithier doubled in Manny Ramirez in the top of the 9th, and although Jonathan Broxton blew the save in the bottom of the 8th he did get the win when the Dodgers scored two runs in the top of the 9th. James Loney drove in two runs and Matt Kemp drove in another. The Dodger youngsters are maturing at a nice rate and this team is a force in the NL West. It also helps when Ramirez has a 3-3 night with three doubles. They will play the Giants again in the finale tonight in San Francisco.

The Caps defeated the Rangers in game 7 of the NHL Eastern Conference Quarters 2-1. Sergei Fedorov showed that he is still a great player by blasting a wristshot by Henrik Lundqvist with 4:59 left in the third and it turned out to be the game winner. Who says he can't play anymore. Caps rookie goalie Simeon Varlamov stopped 14 Ranger shots and now they head into the next round against the Pens. That will be a classic series, pitting Ovechkin against Crosby.

The Canes shocked the Devils by scoring two late goals in the third and won the game 4-3 thereby eliminating New Jersey. Jussi Jokinen scored at 18:40 of the third and then Eric Staal scored at 19:28 of the third as the Canes now will take on the top seeded Bruins.

The elite 8 is now set in the NHL. Chicago travels to Vancouver on Thursday 4/30, Anaheim is in Detroit and Carolina will visit Boston on Friday 5/1 and Pittsburgh will be in D.C to take on the Caps on Saturday 5/2.
More to come.
