Sports Blog 4/30/09

The Dodgers lost last night in San Francisco 9-4. That means the hated Giants took two out of three from the Dodgers. Eric Stults(2-1) struggled, yielding five runs and seven hits while failing to get out of the third inning for the Dodgers meanwhile Tim Lincecum(2-1) allowed six hits and struck out eight while pitching into the eighth inning for the Giants. Joe Torre made a change in the Dodger lineup that hadn't happened in 44yrs. He batted Juan Pierre in the 9th spot and put Eric Stults in the 8th spot. It didn't work but nice try. The Dodgers are back at home tonight to take on the Padres.

The second round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs takes place tonight in Vancouver. The Blackhawks will take on the Canucks, and it should be a good series but I think Luongo can only take a team so far. Vancouver needs to score more and often than in the last series if they want to move on. I don't think it will happen. The Blackhawks have a good fast and younger team and it will show in six games.

Message to Duck fan, especially the one in the studio right next to me who doesn't stop talking trash, you don't realize what you are getting into. The Red Wings are a true deep team, unlike the overrated Sharks, they will fire the puck on net from every angle and park Johan Franzen and Tomas Holmstrom in front of Jonas Hiller thereby causing an eclipse of the sun. He won't be able to see the 40 shots per game and as a result won't be able to stop them. There is also 7 Swedes on the Red Wing team and they will not let a rookie Swede goalie get the best of them. No doubt that Jonas Hiller is a rising star in the NHL but just like Steve Mason for Columbus last round Hiller will cool off. I predict the Red Wings in 6 games.

More to come.
